Privacy Policy

The short version

Embedded Level stores what it needs to measure your level and show your progress, and nothing else. There is no advertising, no tracking across other websites, and your data is never sold.

What is collected

• Account details from GitHub when you sign in: your name, email address, avatar URL and GitHub account id. Sign in uses OAuth, so your GitHub password is never seen by this site.
• Your answers: which question, what you answered, whether it was correct, and how long you took. These produce your level, your review schedule and your reports.
• Preferences: your chosen platforms and self-assessed level.
• Job descriptions you paste into the Jobs page, stored so the resulting topic profile can be rebuilt and shown back to you. You can delete a job track at any time, which deletes the pasted text with it.
• Daily usage counts, used to apply the free plan limit.

Cookies

Two cookies are used, both strictly necessary, and there are no analytics or advertising cookies. A session cookie keeps you signed in. A second cookie holds a random identifier so an anonymous placement test can be resumed; it contains no personal data.

Who else processes your data

• Vercel hosts the site and processes requests.
• Neon hosts the PostgreSQL database where the data above is stored.
• GitHub handles authentication when you sign in.
• Anthropic receives the text of a job description only at the moment you ask for it to be analysed, and only if that analysis is enabled. It is not used to train models. If that service is unavailable the site falls back to local keyword analysis and sends nothing externally.

These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States.

How long it is kept

Account data and answers are kept while your account exists. If you ask for your account to be deleted, personal details are removed. Anonymous answer records may be kept without any link to you, because they are what keeps each question's difficulty rating accurate for everyone.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for your account to be deleted. If you are in the UK, EU or a country with similar law, you also have the right to object to processing and to complain to your data protection authority.
